About the Artist

Barbara Gill

I studied painting at UC Santa Barbara and CSU Fresno. I am a retired teacher from Modesto City Schools and served on the exhibition committee for the Mistlin Gallery.  I am a docent at Great Valley Museum and present live animal programs.

My work has been shown in more than three dozen galleries.  I’ve shown at California Fine Art Show at the California State Fair and the Annual Juried Exhibit Yosemite Renaissance XXIV.  I had a two person-exhibition at Mistlin Gallery in Modesto titled “So I Paint.”

I have been juried as a Signature Member of Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association since 2012.  Plein air painting is a French term for painting outside and capturing the spirit of the scene.  My focus it to capture a sense of place in my painting.

I was interviewed on YouTube  with “Expose Yourself to Art” by the Mistlin Gallery.

I have donated art to the KVIE Art Auction since 2018 and have had several “bell ringers,” which means the art sells for over the asking price.

My goal is to show the beauty in Nature and

the need for conservation of our natural areas.
